The Golden Retriever is a versatile dog. He makes a good retriever and game hunter and is used often as a guide for the blind. They make excellent companions and loving and easygoing. These dogs always score highly in obedience competitions.  This type of dog does need daily exercise, not just a 5 minute walk around the block.  Be careful not to over exert this breed in the early years, as the bones of the dog would not have fully developed, and this can also lead to Hip Dysplaysia.
