So
You Got A New Puppy

Here are
some
tips to help you through the first few weeks of owning a
new puppy. Remember you are the only one who can
give your new pet the love and care that it needs during
its adjustment period.
1) Milk - do not give your new puppy any milk it
could give him diarrhea.
2) Discipline - avoid spanking,
pups do not understand a spanking. When a pups mother
wishes to punish she will grab the pup by the scruff of
the neck and give him a shake while growling.
3) First Night - provide your pup
with a nice cozy bed. During the first few nights put him
to bed after a good snack and a trip to the wee-wee pad,
place a warm hot water bottle under his bed to comfort
him. This will provide him with the sounds and warmth of
company. Continue this for a few nights and your
puppy will begin to understand that this is his bed.
4) Food - we recommend that you
avoid feeding your puppy canned food for a few weeks
since this can cause runny stools.
Dry foods such as
Nutrisource is a
leading premium puppy food that you can buy which is nutritionally complete and do not require supplementation
with canned food. It is important to not radically change
your puppy's diet, since this can cause a great deal of
stress and could cause diarrhea.
5) Internal Parasites and
Ear-mites these are two problems that are
common in dogs of all ages. They should be looked
at under the direction of a veterinarian.
6) Vaccinations
- are very important for your new puppy and should be
conducted as directed by your vet.
